Lens accessories begin from something as simple as a front lens cap and rear lens cap, which is already there when you buy a lens. It just keeps the lens safe and protected when lens is not in use.

You are so familiar with the word filters on our social media picture posting. You can change or add colours and effects to your social media pictures by applying filters before posting. Lenses achieve the same by fixing various filters in front of the lens. Many filters have become obsolete with the advent of digital photography and possibility of post-production. There are many kinds of filters. Some of them are:

Lens hoods protect the lens from harsh light directly hitting the lens. Lens hoods come in many sizes and shapes, flower lens hoods, round or cylinder lens hood etc. There are reasons why they are in those shapes. A wide angle lens will need a flower lens hood so that the lens does not come on the way of the image capturing. There are times when we need to completely do way with the lens hood.

Adaptors help a lens to get mounted on to an incompatible camera body or other accessories.

Tele-converters help in farther extending the focal length of a lens.

There are many more simple and special lens accessories. There are times you need to camouflage the lens in specific photography, like wildlife etc.

Specify the need and sure enough there are accessories to help you with. You can even cheat the camera with a reverse lens ring and achieve macro photography.
